The 12mm AquaX Caledon in Sand Dune is a waterproof laminate floor with the appearance and texture of real hardwood and a waterproof core that allows installation in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and mudrooms. At 12mm thick, AquaX Caledon delivers a solid, substantial feel underfoot that thinner laminates cannot match. Warm, sandy blonde tones that evoke light-washed oak. Sand Dune brightens rooms and creates an open, airy feel, particularly in smaller spaces and open-plan areas. Click-lock installation with no glue required. Available at Windsor Plywood locations across Canada.

Common Uses

Installed throughout the home including kitchens, bathrooms, basements, mudrooms, and main living areas. The waterproof core allows continuous installation from dry rooms into wet areas without a transition strip -- a significant advantage over non-waterproof laminate.

Pro Tips

  • Acclimate flooring in the installation space for 48 hours before cutting and installing. Keep cartons flat and unopened during acclimation.
  • The subfloor must be flat to within 3mm per metre. Use a long straightedge to check for dips and high spots. Level any irregularities before installation -- they will telegraph through a 12mm floating floor.
  • Leave a 10mm expansion gap at all walls, pipes, and fixed objects. Cover with baseboards or shoe moulding after installation. Never pin a floating floor tight to the wall -- it needs room to expand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AquaX truly waterproof or just water-resistant?
The AquaX core is waterproof -- standing water will not damage the core structure. However, water that seeps through joints and reaches the subfloor can still cause problems. Wipe spills promptly and seal the perimeter with silicone in wet installations for best long-term performance.

Do I need underlayment with AquaX flooring?
Yes, unless the product has an attached underlayment pad (check the product packaging). On concrete subfloors, use an underlayment with an integrated moisture barrier. On wood subfloors, standard acoustic underlayment is sufficient.
